Does your motorcycle need the most power, the best handling, or the latest in electronics to be enjoyable? Of course not. But as more and more models get traction control, Bluetooth connectivity, and increased power outputs, we tend to forget that the simple joy of moving through the world on two wheels is the core of motorcycling. Royal Enfield’s INT650 is a perfect example of simplicity leading to enjoyment. We put retired Superbike racer Doug Toland on the 2022 Royal Enfield INT650 for a riding review. At first he was skeptical about a 482-pound bike with just 41 hp. In the end, he didn’t want to give it back. Check out his review here.

When the Hans Muth-designed BMW R 100 RS hit the market in 1977 for $4,595, Cycle World described the price as astronomical; after all, that’s about $21K in today’s money. And while we had the vocabulary to describe the price, we hadn’t yet coined the term “sport-touring” for the segment it soon came to define. Contributing editor Mark Lindemann, who rode the machine 45 years ago, wrote us a wonderful historic essay on the RS, along with an accompanying article about the R nineT RS, a modern concept from Muth and Georg Martin. Check out his article on Hans Muth’s Reisesport here.

As always, there’s more than we can fit into this email. Check out cycleworld.com for additional tests, reviews, and news.
