Hero - Do you remember Champ, the beautiful pup who was chained to a tree and abandoned? We just got an incredible update from our friends at the Dallas Dog Rescue! If you remember, the chain was so tight around his neck that it was embedded in his body. With continued hydrotherapy for his wounds, they are now almost completely healed! In addition, he is recovering from his neuter surgery. Now that Champ has decompressed from his experience, we are seeing his personality come through! He is an extremely loving boy and gets very excited to see his dog friends. So far he seems social with every person, big and small, that he meets, but DDR is still assessing his temperament. While his personality is continuing to come out, Dallas Dog Rescue has discovered that Champ LOVES balls, enjoys his daily walks, and will take as many butt scratches as he can get! DDR has started working with Champ on basic training and he is about to begin a Canine Good Citizen training program! The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is a test through AKC that teaches good manners and responsible dog-ownership so that the dog and their owners can be the best they can be–together. These skills include (but are not limited to) walking past dogs neutrally, handling their paws, neutrality around strangers, etc. If you’d like to learn more about the CGC, click here. If you are interested in being a foster for Dallas Dog Rescue or making a donation to their program, find out more information here. Marshall Morris, iHeartDogs, Co-Founder P.S. When you shop the Team Champ Collection or donate directly together we can help more dogs like Champ recover and find a furever home. |
