“Anything a man can do, a woman can do better.”
I used to feel this way before I became a mother but I have come to realize that my feminine energy and empathetic nature are what make me unique. As mothers we prove ourselves every day, and I have accepted that I don’t owe anyone any more proof. Caring for my children is a natural strength. It makes me who I am.
As a leader, I am fortunate to work with a talented team with rich lives within and outside of work. Understanding who they are as people - with families, with challenges and with human emotion is of utmost importance to me. It’s up to me to nurture and support the talent of our team.
Let’s crush the expectation that women (especially mothers) should be expected to do it all or do them “better” than a man would. Instead, with a bit of perspective, we can learn to do an abundance of things really well in our own way. As a mother of 3 beautiful girls, I take pride in nurturing and celebrating this environment for women, at home and at JBW.
On this Mother’s Day, let’s take a moment to slow down, embrace time and follow our feminine intuitions to become the most natural version of ourselves - as women, mothers and female bosses. I look forward to celebrating another incredible year in my journey of motherhood and cherishing every moment with my children.
