| | On the 9th of June, 2023, The Maison celebrated the grand opening of its first hotel, THE KARL LAGERFELD MACAU. Combining immaculate interiors with unrivaled hospitality, the property is the only hotel in the world that was wholly designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld. The project was deeply personal for him, and the result is an awe-inspiring interior that seamlessly marries Eastern and Western aesthetics, capturing the designer's expansive vision.
Located in the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, the multisensory hotel experience includes 271 iconic rooms and suites; the Mesa Restaurant featuring gastronomic delights by award-winning chef José Avillez; a spectacular Book Lounge; and a spa and wellness center including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, all conceived by the late fashion mogul. Karl's enthusiasm for art is clear throughout, with the designer commissioning exquisite sculptures from Dutch artist Marcel Wanders and French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel.
| | | | | | | | | | | A LITERARY ESCAPE
| | The stunning Book Lounge brings Karl Lagerfeld's passion for books to life. The spectacular lounge is spacious and elegant, a perfect space for socializing in style and sophistication. Over 4,000 books line the shelves, each of which was selected individually from Karl's own 7L bookshop in Paris.
| | | | | | | | | The Book Lounge embodies French tea culture, featuring a playful yet refined menu of tea sandwiches, French confectioneries and signature KL éclairs. With personalized service and a touch of savoir-vivre, the Book Lounge offers guests an elevated retreat and a glimpse into Karl's world.
| | | | | | | | | | TRUE RELAXATION | | The Spa at THE KARL LAGERFELD MACAU fuses fashion, luxury and beauty to provide guests with the ultimate in self-care. Black marble and gold mosaic touches blend Chinese aesthetics and Art Deco influences, creating an interior that represents the indulgent luxury provided in each of the Spa's six opulent treatment suites. A one-of-a-kind jade installation, inspired by a small jade piece Karl found at an antique store, completes the space with an elegant and attention-grabbing touch. The bold mosaic patterns and décor of the hotel's 25-meter indoor and outdoor swimming pools reflect Karl Lagerfeld's signature style, with oversized scalloped stone columns and a captivating Art Deco motif. Cabanas and loungers offer guests a spot to bask in the sun and enjoy a gorgeous view of the resort's French podium gardens. A truly luxurious setting for a wellness retreat. | | | | | | | | | | KARL'S DESIGN VISION REALIZED
| | Karl Lagerfeld's intense passion for design followed him throughout his life and this breathtaking property epitomizes that. The hotel and its design were deeply personal for him, and he was adamant that he would never design a space he would not live in himself. Small details underline his influence, from chairs on-site similar to those in his Paris office to the use of an orchid motif throughout, his favorite flower. It was the last design project he undertook and his immense talent and commitment to detail are evident – he hand-picked every element, from the extravagant room décor and large-scale installations to minute details like bathrobes and bedsheets. The result is a lavish interior that embodies a unique blend of Eastern and Western design. A fitting representation of the late designer's brilliance.
