It's Winter... ...and your plants know it. While indoor plants are by no means weathering the proverbial storm, they do notice the change in seasons just like us. Read up on these simple tips to keep your plants happy, healthy and thriving until spring: - Adjust your watering routine. Plants simply require less resources in the winter, so if you haven't yet, consider watering less or less frequently. Check the soil in between waterings--most common houseplants will want to dry out before being watered again.
- Let in the light. As days are shorter this time of year, certain light-loving plants might need to move around to capture more light. Consider temporarily moving your plant to a brighter spot, or simply rotating it more frequently for even light exposure.
- Put away the pruners. You can remove old, dry or yellow leaves year round, but save any major pruning for the spring or summer.
- Beware of chilly windowpanes. If you live in an area that sees frost, make sure none of your plants are exposed to chilly windowpanes as this may damage delicate foliage.
