Anthurium Flowers 101

What's the deal with the flowers on the Anthurium? How long do they last, and what can I do to maintain them? These are some of the questions we hear about this gorgeously colorful and easy care plant, so today we're diving into what those flowers are really all about:

First of all, they're not technically flowers. They are actually "spathes", which is a type of modified leaf that protects clusters of tiny flowers inside.
They can last for months, or if you prefer, cut them and put them in a vase with water, where they will last for about a few weeks.
They can bloom year round, and with minimal effort to boot. Just make sure your plant gets adequate light (and water, and love!) and it will delight you with colorful "flowers" throughout the seasons.
