In the clothing and accessories business, this is known as ‘fast fashion’, aka ‘wear it once and throw it away’. Can you hear the cash registers ringing? What about the groans of disappointed consumers? Or the tears of Mother Earth? This madness is all part of a sham known as the ‘now economy’ — the idea that consumers get instant value from buying a product, so a quick sale is all that matters. This approach prioritizes low-quality products and leads to disappointed customers.
