Four Corners Gallery | 18, 19, 22 - 26th February | | Awareness of gender inequality in the industry might be growing. But the numbers aren’t changing fast enough. Globally, 70-80% of photography students are women—yet they account for only 13-15% of professional photographers. And when women’s stories aren’t being told, we aren’t getting the full picture.
In London this February, MPB is thrilled to sponsor an exhibition: Female in Focus.
From Imogen Freeland’s poignant take on motherhood to Marzena Han’s look at the "social invisibility" felt by middle-aged women, Paola Vivas’ defiant portrait of Latino identity to Thandiwe Muriu’s vibrant celebration of African individuality, the Female in Focus exhibition weaves a raw and intricate tapestry of women’s experiences from around the world.
| | | | The exhibition features photography from the twenty winners of the 2021 Female in Focus competition, with the British Journal of Photography / 1854. It’s free to attend, so head over to Four Corners Gallery, 121 Roman Rd, Bethnal Green, London E2 0QN.
