Fujifilm recommendations with Paul Boomsma
Looking to get some Fujifilm kit?

We spoke with UK based outdoor and commercial photographer Paul Boomsma. His work includes both stunning wildlife and awe-inspiring landscapes, and has been featured in publications including National Geographic.

Here, he runs through his recommended Fujifilm setups.
From £684
Key features include:
26.1MP APS-C-format X-Trans CMOS 4, an expansive 2.16m-point phase-detection autofocus system and an X-Processor 4.
Fujifilm X-T3
All of the exposure controls are set out as dials located on the top of the body, this makes the X-T3 a real joy to use. I can adjust what I need while looking through the electronic viewfinder and see everything adjust on-screen. This allows me to put my full focus on the subject of the photo.
I’ve taken it out in all conditions over the last few years - hot humid weather, -20 degrees in the snow, got it soaked in heavy rainstorms - it’s never let me down.

Fujifilm produces really nice images and doesn’t require as much work in post. I seem to have more ‘keepers’ than I did with previous bodies. The colours are always nice to work with and the autofocus is nearly always accurate.

Fujifilm X-T3
From £664
Key features include:
Performs fantastically in low light, quick f/2.8 aperture and X-Trans CMOS Sensor.
Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR
Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR
The 16-55mm F2.8 is another great lens from Fujifilm that I always carry. This is a great all-around lens and stays on the X-T3 throughout most of my trips. It’s sharp, fast and has great weather sealing.
From £239
Key features include:
An impressive f/2.8 aperture, image stabilisation and X-Trans CMOS Sensor.
Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS
Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS
While it’s classed as a kit lens, the quality of the the images the 18-55mm F2.8-4 produces is amazing. It’s small, lightweight and has OIS which is great for shooting slow shutter speeds handheld.
From £929
Key features include:
Five ED lenses and one Super ED, a 5.0-stop* image stabilisation system and weighs less than 1.4kg.
Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R
Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R
The 100-400mm F4 is amazing and always stays in my bag. You get sharp details throughout all corners of the image, fast and silent autofocus. It’s also pretty compact and portable in comparison to telephoto lenses from other brands. I can easily photograph fast-moving birds handheld without needing a tripod.
