I Can Eat Anything?!
You’ve probably met someone in your life that can eat anything they want and not gain a pound. If only you had access to their magic metabolism! Weight change is controlled by calories in vs calories out. That means that to lose weight, you need to eat less calories than you burn. Conversely, you need to eat more calories than you burn to gain weight. To stay the same weight, you need to eat as many calories as you burn.
Now, those calories can be further divided into subcategories called macronutrients or “macros” for short. Macros are the protein, carbs, and fats that provide the calories the body needs to function. All foods are made up of one or more of these macronutrients.
Macro dieting or “if it fits your macros” involves eating foods that meet your macronutrient requirements (and thus calorie requirements for the day). That means that you CAN fit that pizza into your diet without gaining weight as long as you can fit it into your daily macros.
