Factorio studio angers Russian gamers by increasing regional price from $9 to $174
(Wube Software)
Factorio developer Wube Software is facing a fierce backlash from Russian gamers after suddenly and sharply increasing the price of the game on Steam in Russia. The price hike resulted in a flood of hundreds of negative user reviews, and while the overall rating remains "overwhelmingly positive," the current rating is "mixed," with just over half of the user reviews posted over the past 30 days being positive.

Review of the Week
Stray review
(Annapurna Interactive)
The early novelty of playing as a cat in Stray soon gives way to a striking realisation—we often behave like cats in games anyway. Particularly in platform-puzzlers like this, our first inclination is to explore, looking for unorthodox routes up the sides of buildings, say, or jumping on furniture and seeing which objects we can manipulate. Stray simply makes such activities more natural, giving us the perfect form for the job.

Your Say
Which videogame bar do you wish you could visit?
(EA)
Every RPG has to have an inn or tavern, and mystery games usually involve a trip to a dive bar. They're a mainstay of adventure games and open-world crime games too. Like bars in real life they might have minigames to play, like darts or pool or finding a local for Geralt to beat up, but they're also places where you can get to know the locals, whether you're scrounging for clues or recruiting new party members. And, of course, you can just get blitzed and watch the graphics go blurry.

This teeny Steam Deck rival is just the right size for a handheld gaming PC
(AyaNeo)
AyaNeo, makers of what feels like a dozen handheld gaming PCs(opens in new tab), ran a seven-hour livestream(opens in new tab) last week detailing the production progress of its "Air" line of handheld Windows gaming PCs (spotted by HotHardware(opens in new tab)). The Air and Air Pro are super lightweight and thin handheld gaming PCs with OLED displays. The stream looked at the final version of the Air Pro and how significantly smaller it is than a Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck.

In Case You Missed It
The hot new co-op farming game is called Dinkum
(James Bendon)
New farming and life sim Dinkum takes the cozy island living formula and soups it up with what the genre desperately needed: crocodiles. This Australian-inspired island won't dispel any of the memes about the outback being dominated by wildlife waiting to murder you. Given that, I'll be planting crops and petting the excessively large wombats back in town instead, thank you.

Finally, Something Funny
I hate my gaming PC in the summer
(PC Gamer / Jacob Ridley)
I'm not built for heat. I'm also from a country that isn't often privy to it, so that mostly works out in my favour. However, when the shimmering summer sun does come beating down in Wales, it can become unbearable rather quickly. There are a few reasons for that: air conditioning at home isn't common nor will you find any respite in cleverly architected buildings to reflect heat back out to space. Largely, though, it's simply because the temperature gauge hardly ever cracks 25°C (77°F), so there's no real need to plan ahead for it.
