As a new year arrives, I thought it was about time we gave you a bit more insight into what’s going on at protein works.™ HQ.
A Few Stats
Let’s start with a few stats for those who like their numbers! 
Since starting around 9 years ago, we’ve sold more than 150 million shakes in over 100 countries around the world. We now have over 100 flavours of shakes in our range and over 1,000 product lines for you to choose from.
In the past year alone, we’ve won more than 10 product awards, increased our warehouse capacity by 100% and added another 50 countries that we now ship to. But despite all this, we’ve doubled down on what we’re committed to most of all – creating the best shakes on the planet. From day one, it’s something we’ve been obsessed about, in a good way!
New Innovations
This January we have a load of new product launches to keep you interested. I can’t share any more on these as I’ll be shot, but early access announcements will be landing in your inbox over the next few days and weeks. So watch that box!
We’ve got some brand new innovations for you to try, some exciting new flavours that the team have absolutely nailed and some new & improved formulations that make some of our best-sellers even better. As always, share your feedback on everything as it goes straight to the team to help us improve again and again.
What’s Happening with Prices?
I am sure you have all seen price increase in recent months. Not just on your protein works.™ orders, but generally, whatever you buy. I want to talk about this head on with you, rather than pretend it isn’t happening. I prefer to be up front and transparent, so you can understand our approach, what we are doing and why.
The last 12 months have seen a fundamental breakdown in supply chains brought on by Covid-19 and Brexit. This has caused significant rises in raw material costs. In addition, labour shortages, wage inflation, fuel cost increases, new regulations and more have all hit us very hard. The result is that we’ve seen costs increase as much as 300% on some ingredients! Seriously, I’m not kidding.
As a result of this, we have done some things AND we have not done others:
- We never like increasing prices, but we have increased some of them onsite to survive. We have not though increased them anywhere near what we could have done. We’re doing our best to absorb as much of the hit as possible, but it’s not easy. For sure, you can be 100% confident that you’re getting the best value out there when you buy protein works.™.
- We have not and we will never compromise on the premium ingredients we use in our products. We have though secured long term agreements with our global ingredient partners to protect quality standards and supply throughout 2022 and beyond.
- We have improved delivery options, despite rising courier costs, with a 9pm cut off for next day delivery in the UK. We have not though increased delivery prices, unlike most of the competition.
Maximise to Minimise
We are one of very few brands out there to own our product end to end. Our team here in Cheshire develop our products in-house. We manufacture right here at HQ. That’s everything from Endless Nootropic™ to Loaded Nuts™. From Superfood Bites to Vegan Wondershake™. We’re extremely proud of doing things this way. To be honest, it’s rare these days.
We also have over 75,000 sq ft of warehouse space that house our raw ingredients and finished products. Finally, we have our own fulfilment centre from where we despatch all your orders around the world.
We’ve invested in all of this because we believe no one understands our products better than us and no one could care more about them than us. We can maintain the highest possible quality levels and minimise middle-men costs this way too.
To give you a little insight into what gets our team excited at HQ, in a few weeks time, we’ll be going live with our new peanut butter facility that will triple current capacity. We are doing this to meet demand and also allow us to get even more creative on new products for you.

2021 has been a tough year in so many ways for so many people. We all have personal stories related to Covid-19 to tell and the challenges its brought. Above all else, we hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.
