Daume's history, beginning in 1878, includes standing at the forefront of the Art Nouveau movement in France. They achieved widespread acclaim for their revival of the ancient Egyptian glass paste casting technique now known as pâte de verre. Their pieces draw inspiration from nature, beauty, and in this case, classic art. Persephata was originally part of a series of gouaches by famed Cubist artist Georges Braque. Here, Daume renders her likeness in 3 dimensions, with intricate detailing only possible through their unique manufacturing process.
