Letter From The Editor: I’ve always had a hard time falling asleep, and for a while, I was prescribed Ambien. I loved the sleep I got while taking it, but there was one really weird, unintended side effect: I would wake up in the morning, and my calendar would be filled with appointments for expensive spa treatments I didn’t remember booking. A few times, I even received a phone call from a salon asking why I missed my appointment and whether I wanted to reschedule. It was a funny—but clearly unsustainable—situation, so I ditched the prescription and began a long journey of trying to find some magic melatonin + Unisom + white noise + 76-degree thermostat equation that would result in falling asleep easily and waking up well-rested.
The next stop on my long and winding journey is CBD. For the last couple weeks, I’ve been working with the experts at Equilibria to see
if CBD can help me find the blissful sleep I'm searching for. Is a customized cannabinoid my
sleep solution? You’ll have to read this article to find out.
Another thing going on with me is that recently, I’ve had a mean case of “the shoppies.” I’ve wanted to replace everything I own, from small pieces like socks and underwear to big items like boots and jackets. I’ve given myself a few parameters (no more T-shirts, lean into dresses), but I’ve also allowed myself to play. And I deserve it. Between pregnancy and the pandemic, I’ve spent the last two years only thinking practically about clothing (is this dress stretchy enough? Can I nurse in this top?), and I’m ready to have some fun. So this week, I went through our Warehouse Sale
and selected 15 items that I think will give me a new lease on life. There’s something on this list for everyone and for whomever everyone wants to be next, and some of the pieces are up to 80% off.
I’ve also been revisiting this story on the closet items I should get rid of and what I should replace them with, and I’ve found it really helpful as I rebuild my wardrobe from the ground up. Better sleep. An updated wardrobe. These are the things sweet dreams are made of. More soon, Caitlin Brand Editor

What We’re Loving Right Now. Ottolenghi’s Masterclass on modern Middle Eastern cooking. We’re starting with the simple things (marinated smoky feta), but we’re also looking forward to using his thoughts on hosting to throw a proper feast sometime this summer.
Senga Nengudi’s evocative multi-media artwork. If you’re in Denver, you could experience her avant-garde and sensory pieces in person.
This piece, which reflects on the year that just passed through the world of Jeopardy—a strangely apt and bittersweet lens.
Tiny Win If you’re also experiencing the shoppies right now, you might want to consider creating a little wardrobe-refresh wishlist. There are practical things you’ll need if you’re returning to an office (shoes that aren’t slippers
pants with zippers), and there are also things
you’re just going to want (like a pair of red
shorts and a matching jacket). Either way, breaking down the necessary next to the extravagant will help you stay organized and on budget—and it might even help you find
some overlap between the two (there’s no reason why your new shoes can’t be as comfy as slippers, just sayin’).
