The other day, my friend in Dallas texted me lamenting about their abnormally cold weather: “It hasn’t been above freezing since Saturday night! Y’all [Northerners] are built different…” As a Minnesotan living in New York, I’m certainly never phased by a below-freezing forecast, but I assure you, I am not built differently. Sure, my mind is filled with chilly childhood memories—like my mom reminding me not to touch my hair after winter-time swim classes for fear it would snap right off—and yet, I’m pretty sure I’d feel most at home in a seaside villa on the Mediterranean (a girl can dream).
I know the cold, and I loathe the cold—a combination that’s forced me to get very good at dressing for it. So for this month’s Power Casual report, I wanted to share my favorite outfit formula for those winter days when you just can’t be bothered to get dressed:
1 jardigan + 1 no-fuss top + 1 Better Than Denim pant = foolproof (read: quick and comfy) outfit.
To be clear, this formula works year-round, but I tend to rely on it heavily in this homestretch of winter, when all I want to do is spend five minutes longer in my scalding-hot shower. Below, see seven iterations you can wear right now, with a special focus on our two brand-new jardigans: the Jennimai and the Anh.

A Tale of Two Turtlenecks
One of our favorite ways to wear a vest is over a lightweight turtleneck. For the winter months, pop on one of your Axam turtlenecks (I highly recommend owning several), and layer the Anh jardigan on top. As soon as spring hits, trade the Axam for its brand-new, sleeveless sister, the Jett tank, which creates an equally elegant silhouette. Complete your black and tan combination with the saddle-colored Roma jeans, the snakeskin embossed Rowan flats, and the dazzling Martine earrings.
