Hello and welcome back to Shine and Rise, a monthly newsletter catching up on the latest news at Voo, fashion, life and everything in between.

Fashion is the mirror of society, they say. It reflects what’s going on in our little human bubble, it reflects our desires, our ideals, our fears. It communicates, silently and sometimes not so silently, who we are and who we want to be. It makes us connect with people when we don’t feel like explaining ourselves or we’re too shy to say hello. It’s like sharing a chocolate chip cookie with a stranger, a feeling of immediate connection because you both like the same stuff.

Mirrors can be great. Have you ever stood in front of a great mirror? A great mirror hugs your ego, it makes it frolic in a random bathroom and dance in a small fitting room. It makes you wink at yourself, it’s you thinking - damn, I look good. And believing it. Believing it! It’s not easy. Sometimes you feel like a potato and then you think you look like a potato, especially if you’re German. But listen, and listen carefully. The days you do feel hot and you do come across a mirror and it happens to be great. Take a picture. For the love of fashion. And yourself.
 

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. You know who said that? Justin Timberlake in - ha!- Mirrors! (Smooth, hey). And last week’s history was really hot. Together with our friends from Diesel we invited our community to a strip club in the West of Berlin for the launch of Diesel’s latest collection at VooStore. Berlin-based super Dj’s Panasiagirl and Lovefoxy spinned the tunes, the Berlin Stripper Collective heated up the dance floor and everyone looked fabulous.

If all this talk about mirrors got you in a cleaning mood (it’s Sunday after all), remember that cleaning your house is not only about cleaning the walls you inhabit, but your worldly house as well. For some people that means shutting off all surrounding distractions and just listen. For others it means calling an old friend you haven’t spoken to in a while. For some it’s going to yoga or taking a bath, for others it’s dancing around in your home in underwear.
  
Whatever it is that cleans your house from the settling dust of unsettling emotions - do it from a deep love for yourself. Do it because it feels good. Do it because you’re hot, either way. And maybe do it while looking at your reflection in the mirror singing along to Justin Timberlake.
