To celebrate Moto Guzzi’s centennial anniversary in 2021, CEO Roberto Colaninno tasked the engineering and design team with building a completely new model that would not only mark the milestone but carry the company into its next century. From that order came the V100 Mandello, a Guzzi unlike any that has come before, yet still immediately recognizable. The bike carries Moto Guzzi’s first liquid-cooled longitudinally mounted V-twin. And not only does the V100 get a new engine, but also an all-new chassis with semi-active suspension and even active aero. Cycle World Editor-at-Large Blake Conner traveled to Italy for an exclusive first ride on a prototype V100 Mandello for an early riding impression. Find out if this will be the platform to take Guzzi into the future here.

While Guzzi planned its move into the future, UK contributor Adam Child took the 2022 BSA Gold Star for a nostalgic ton-up ride. It’s not yet available in the US, but according to Child, the new Gold Star leans heavy on the iconic name and doesn’t disappoint; its liquid-cooled single and simple chassis make for a satisfying ride to go with its classic look.
