We talked to the Emulati gearing up to make Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom playable on PC next month
(Nintendo)
It's possible that in just a few weeks, we'll see how the gaming community reacts to the most-anticipated Nintendo game in years being playable in an emulator the day it comes out. The "emulati," in this case, are the lead developers of Yuzu and Ryujinx, whose open source emulators are both barreling ahead, undaunted by the recent heat from Nintendo that caused a prominent Zelda YouTuber to pull his Breath of the Wild mod from download.

The Big Story
'We're running at a f**king wall, and we're gonna crash'—CD Projekt's lead quest designer on big-budget RPGs
(Pawel Sasko, CD Projekt Red)
Recent PC Gamer editorial "The cinematic BioWare-style RPG is dead, it just doesn't know it yet" caused quite "a commotion" between the lead designers at developer CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Paweł Sasko said in a recent PC Gamer roundtable interview. "Everyone actually, after reading this article, said: we mostly agree, actually, with the thesis. At least when it comes to triple-A, we are just running at a fucking wall, I think, and we're gonna crash on that wall really soon."

Stranded: Alien Dawn
(Haemimont)
Like a scene from Starship Troopers, scores of giant alien bugs are scuttling toward a base on an alien planet while winged insects swoop down from the skies above. The only thing stopping them is a defensive wall and a few determined humans. Wait a second. Where are those determined humans? Unfortunately, one of them is lying unconscious in a field with brain damage after being struck by lightning. Another had a nervous breakdown and is kicking a chair to splinters in the living room. A third is simply a pacifist, so instead of fighting he's cooking meatless sausages made out of dried hay.

Markiplier is making a feature film adaptation of a $6 horror indie game where you pilot a windowless submarine under an ocean of blood
(Markiplier)
Longtime YouTuber Mark "Markiplier" Fischbach has revealed that he is directing and starring in an adaptation of Iron Lung, last year's breakout indie horror game from Dusk developer David Szymanski. Szymanski's most famous creation, Dusk, is one of the tentpole entries of the recent retro shooter renaissance. 2022's Iron Lung, meanwhile, shares a similar retro rendering aesthetic but goes for more of a "claustrophobic horror" vibe than a "sliding around at 60mph serving both barrels to cultists" one.

Trombone Champ gets truly nasty, adds the hellish Flight of the Bumblebee
(Holy Wow)
Trombone Champ, the fast-paced rhythm music game filled with nasty toots, just got even nastier by adding Flight of the Bumblebee to its roster of hits. That means as of today's update 2022's best comedy game is even funnier, because the famously difficult piece of music is absolute hell to play on a mouse-controlled trombone.
