I hope you’re taking care of yourselves, staying hydrated and taking a little time for your own mental and physical nourishment. June is here at last, and with it, may these sunny days bring you some measure of comfort, energy, and optimism. Hopefully you enjoyed the first installment of our test kitchen manager, Fatima Khawaja’s new produce-driven recipe column. Her low-stress asparagus pakoras have supplanted my usual frozen dumplings as the weeknight snack of choice. Her second recipe—grilled morels on cheesy toast—launched yesterday and I expect you’ll find that one just as deliciously doable as the last. |

You may already know Benjamin’s smart, lighthearted writing well; he’s a longtime Saveur contributor and his transportive travel features and rigorously reported recipes have been an absolute pleasure to edit (and eat!) over the years. |

Originally from Connecticut, he’s now based in Madrid and travels regularly throughout Europe. Take a gander at his Instagram for a glimpse into his ongoing adventures. You can expect lots of great new recipes, stories, and cookbook and wine content coming from him soon. In the meantime, do check out one of my favorite BK pieces from the archives—his hilarious exploration of menestra, an intricate, Spanish vegetable dish perfect for showcasing a bounty of farmers’ market finds. Just in time for Pride, Benjamin has also penned a sweeping guide to some of the best, most iconic LGBTQ+ bars, cafés, and restaurants all across the United States. The COVID–19 pandemic was tough on all F&B businesses and those that serve the queer community were particularly hard-hit.
