From day one, this was a company where I could be my whole self at work—which is sadly not the norm for so many women who are blazing various trails today.

I didn’t know if I would succeed at getting published, but I knew that my M.M. family was cheering for me, and I’m happy to report that my debut novel, The Arc, is finally out!

While it’s no surprise that I chose to wear M.M. to my book launch...

...I was shocked that I opted for the Aditi dress.

I had assumed I would wear something edgy and writerly, perhaps a vegan-leather legging.

With an oversized blazer.

And a sleek boot. But when I tried on the Aditi, it just felt right—like a reunion with an old friend. There is something about classic M.M. pieces that will always feel easy and elegant to me. (Plus, it provided the perfect backdrop for the insane vintage fox belt I borrowed from a friend.)

I’ve always loved that about Miyako’s designs: you can’t understand the magic of them until you put them on. Sometimes you think you know what will work for you, but then you fall in love with something completely unexpected (like an unlikely pairing for your favorite T-shirt). It almost sounds like… dating!
