Letter from the team: Each morning when I prepare to commute to M.M.’s NYC store, I’m both excited and torn about what to wear. I adore getting dressed for work, but after the last two years, it feels like I almost forgot how to do it. How could that be? I’m a stylist for M.M.LaFleur—surely I know how to dress for work in the morning, right? Finding the balance of comfort and polish (and warmth in these NY temps) has become a daily dilemma.

That’s where Power Casual dressing comes in. If you’re wondering, What does that even mean?, don’t worry—I thought the same thing the first time I heard it. Power Casual means easy-to-style looks that are comfortable and relaxed, yet polished enough to make you feel put-together.

Let me paint a picture. I woke up this morning, and it was 20 degrees. Not the coldest it’s been this month, but gosh, I wanted to wear my sweats!

Instead, I put on my stretchy Georgina loungers

and tucked in my sleek pima cotton Axam turtleneck.

Before heading out, I also threw my Arbus sweater over my shoulders for a bit of extra warmth. To me, this outfit is the epitome of Power Casual: the perfect balance of cozy and chic.

I had the chance to dive deep on all things Power Casual this past Friday, when I teamed up with M.M.’s Chicago-based stylist Kate to lead a virtual styling workshop on the topic. With constantly shifting work environments, many of us need a wardrobe that can adapt.
