2022 Honda Trail125 Ride Review

The first motorcycle I remember seeing was a dusty and battered red 1975 Honda CT90 on the bumper of my uncle’s pickup on a camping trip. All I wanted to do was ride as my older family members took turns riding it around the campsite. Forty-something years later, editor-at-large Blake Conner’s review of Honda’s Trail125—a throwback to that very trail bike that first caught my attention—has garnered the same reaction: I just want to ride it, for the simple and fun nature of it.

With all of the tech, power, and high-end parts that are on offer to the motorcycling public, it’s so easy to overlook the simple, no-frills machines that still deliver the core experience of riding on two wheels. Modest horsepower doesn’t mean no fun. Sometimes it means quite the opposite.

This week we review two motorcycles that fit the mantra of slow down and enjoy the ride. One is Honda’s Trail125 mentioned above and the other is a plucky single out of India, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Like the Trail125, the Hunter is stripped down to the basics but is full of character. CW’s associate editor Evan Allen took it for a spin around San Diego and found appreciation for its uncomplicated yet entertaining demeanor.
