Should You Buy Kawasaki’s KLX300 or KLX300SM?

Ask any Cycle World editor to list their top five motorcycles and there is a good chance a dual sport is on that list. No other motorcycle can be used in as many environments as a dual sport. Everything from the urban highways to single-track trails in the mountains are on the menu. Sure, there’s always compromises in the performance in that breadth of uses, but inside the segment there are plenty of models that will fit what is most important to you while getting your less important jobs done.

There’s also no need to load up your bike to go ride in the dirt, just head for the hills from home!

CW’s Associate Editor Evan Allen just submitted his review of Kawasaki’s KLX300 dual sport alongside the KLX300SM supermoto. Both share much of the same equipment, but there are some notable differences in the suspension, wheels, tires, and brakes. After riding them back-to-back he assessed that the dual sport has a greater range of use, but the supermoto does excel on the street and can handle some dirt roads. You can read his full review here.

Over the years we’ve tested plenty of dual sports and our off-road sister site Dirt Rider has tested even more. We’ve decided to add a Dirt Rider page to Cycle World to make getting all of your dirt review and news easier if you are a regular user here. Clicking on the articles will transport you over to the DR site in a new tab.

Now I’ve got the itch to search out some single-track this weekend; maybe I’ll see you out there!

As always, there’s more than we can fit into this email. Check out cycleworld.com for additional tests, reviews, and news.
