(Warner Bros.)
I love how computers are depicted in pop-culture. Here in 2023 my PC still doesn't know what to do when I plug my iPhone into it, but in the 1980s, movies decided computers could do anything and everything: embezzle millions, control the weather, and even turn people into cyborgs with telekinetic powers.

In fact, that's just one computer in one movie: Superman 3. In the film, computer genius Richard Pryor uses a computer to create a tornado for business reasons. Superman foils the plan, so Pryor uses the computer to synthesize kryptonite, which turns Superman into a sleazy drunk until he freaks out and fights himself in a junkyard. Computers! They are literally magic.

It gets weirder as the computer simulates a videogame about fighting Superman while fighting Superman, and then traps him in a weird translucent bubble. And in a sequence that gave children nightmares for years, it turns a woman into a hideous magic cyborg. Superman, with all his powers, finally defeats the PC by… throwing acid on it. Weird plan, but maybe I'll try that the next time Windows tries to update without my permission.

Justice for Miranda finally achieved, thanks to Mass Effect mod
(BioWare)
In Mass Effect 2's suicide mission, you have to choose a biotic specialist to maintain a force field bubble as you walk through a swarm of killer bugs. Picking Miranda will always get somebody killed. Unless you install this mod.

Oh great, crypto miners are selling repainted GPUs and passing them off as new
(Getty - PhonlamaiPhoto)
Some crypto miners are doing everything they can to offload their heavily used mining GPUs, like repainting them and misleading buyers by listing them as new on some retail sites.

I played that $2,000 Steam game, and its ridiculous price is probably for the best
(ProX)
A game called The Hidden and Unknown released on Steam this week with an absurd $1,999.90 price tag. If you don't have two grand to blow on this game, though, don't worry: I've played it, and you're not missing anything.

Dead Space review: A new standard for the horror series
(Motive)
A big part of this remake's strength is down to the fact that it builds on what was already there rather than trying to make something brand new.

Realism mod for Fallout 4 fixes its most unbelievable part: your ability to survive the intro
(Bethesda)
It gives the game a much more plausible start, incinerating the protagonist and their family well in advance of their entry to Vault 111, and ending the game about five minutes in. Call it a speedrun.
