Letter from the Team: What’s the first thing you do when your mood needs a boost? Do you make a comforting snack? Go outside and breathe in the fresh air? Tune into your favorite pump-up playlist? I’ve been reflecting on my own instincts around sensory stimulation ever since I read the exclusive book excerpt that Gretchen Rubin shared with The M Dash a couple of weeks ago.

And maybe it’s because I’m inspired by our musical new collection, but lately, I’ve found that noticing—and appreciating—the sounds that surround me has been both grounding and uplifting.

Sometimes that means seeking out the type of silence that’s so rare when you live in a city—escaping the din of a nearby highway or the rumble of a subway, lending more immediate sounds a renewed clarity. But other times, it’s as simple as listening to an invigorating pump-up song on full volume. This week, Emma put together an excellent round-up of mood-boosting tracks, along with joyful outfits that will keep the good vibes going all day.
