Letter from the Team: What does success look like to you? For Chrissy Rutherford, the fashion expert behind our most recent capsule, success, right now, means freedom. The freedom to structure her day how she wants, to pursue the projects that get her excited, and—importantly—to turn down opportunities that don’t feel like the right fit.

Recently, Chrissy sat down for a conversation with our founder and CEO, Sarah, and she made so many points that I haven’t stopped thinking about since. One line that stuck with me: That freedom is so important to me, especially coming out of corporate America, where there is this playbook that you have to subscribe to. You have to do things in a certain way, and you have to work in a certain way. The reality is, in an office environment, not everyone actually likes to work the same way.

promotion, or a box that can be checked off, like reaching a certain salary, but as an ongoing practice. Success can also mean building a routine, a rhythm that makes you feel at peace. It can mean finally finding a job that allows you to spend nights and weekends with family. It can mean working at a company full of co-workers you’re excited to see every day. Having a “successful” career means different things to different people. And as we navigate the future of remote work in this post(ish)-Covid world, it’s becoming increasingly clear just how different our work preferences can be. Even among our customers—many of whom have corporate jobs and the privilege to choose between remote and in-person work—opinions vary wildly. One thing we can all agree on? Where we work matters—big time.
