Letter from the Team Yesterday was Earth Day, which, to be completely honest, is a holiday I tend to forget about. It just seems kind of silly (and frankly, a little depressing) that we have to dedicate a day to something that sustains our very existence. Isn’t every day Earth Day? On the other hand, I recognize its value as an opportunity to take a pause and set some sustainability-related resolutions. This year, in addition to eating less meat and consuming fewer single-use plastics, I’m determined to decrease my closet’s carbon footprint. Working at M.M., I’m hyper-aware of clothing’s impact on the climate, and I’m committed to advancing our sustainability roadmap through both my professional work and my personal wardrobe.

So last weekend, after I did some major spring cleaning and ended up with an unexpectedly large give-away pile, I had a bit of a wake-up call. I think of my wardrobe M.O. as quality over quantity, so why was I filling up an entire thredUp bag? To be sure, it’s always satisfying to clear some clutter out of my small NYC apartment, but I was left with a sinking feeling: I need to do even better. While I’ve gradually divested from fast fashion over the years, I’m ready to swear it off entirely. Goodbye, impulse purchases; hello, investment pieces.

After careful consideration, I’ve decided that my next purchase will be the Daria jeans.
