Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory vs. KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo vs. Yamaha MT-10 SP: Hyper-naked Comparison

There’s nothing that we love more than a shootout. And we love it even more when we get to flog three hyper-naked motorcycles for that shootout. This week Cycle World brings you the first half of our 2023 Hyper-naked Shootout, and we’d be lying if this wasn’t some of the best days of our year.

You may ask what is a hyper-naked? In the past, stripped-down naked motorcycles were often seriously detuned in power and handling from their fully faired superbike cousins, but no longer is this the case. The latest crop of nakeds have all the power, suspension, and electronics of the superbikes they are derived from, hence the name “hyper-nakeds.”

While the bonkers KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo is not a derivative of a sportbike model, the other two machines in this test—the Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory 1100 and Yamaha MT-10 SP—are not far off in performance from the RSV4 and YZF-R1 superbikes.

The winner of this first shootout will go up against a duo of more expensive hyper-nakeds: the $27,035 BMW M 1000 R and the $37,995 Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP2. Check out the shootout here to find out if it’s the Aprilia, KTM, or Yamaha that will be laddering up and throwing down for the title of 2023’s ultimate hyper-naked.

As always, there’s more than we can fit into this email. Check out cycleworld.com for additional tests, reviews, and news.
