Here's Katie with the hardware scoop.
(Future)

It's the Steam Deck's birthday and everyone's invited. This week the Steam Deck is 10% off across the board and I'm seriously considering it. Not only that, Valve also has a bug fix up it's sleeve for the simultaneous multithreading performance issue with the new SteamOS, so that's two less things to worry about.

On the more hippy-dippy side of PC tech, Japanese manufacturers are selling this hardwood, mechanical, wireless keyboard for $745—each key set is carved from a single block of wood to keep the grain consistent. Utter perfection. And while we're on the subject of impeccable craftsmanship, this YouTuber 3D printed part of their Cities: Skylines map and I'm really digging it. Here's hoping they start taking commissions.

The Big Story
Just when you thought PC HDR gaming couldn't possibly get more awkward this happens
(Future)
Are you ready for yet another battlefield in the war between AMD and Nvidia? Well, it turns out you can get very different results when driving certain HDR monitors depending on whether you are using AMD or Nvidia graphics hardware.
FIGHT!
Pretty big deals
Valve Steam Deck | 64GB | $359.10 (save $39.90)
(Valve)
Although it doesn't come with the premium anti-glare etched glass, or the exclusive profile goodies, we're recommending the cheaper Steam Deck model since it's so damn easy to swap out the SSD now. And with 10% off you can afford to pair it with Sabrent's new small form-factor 256GB NVMe SSD, for just $50 (that's still $67 less than the middling Deck, altogether).
WD Black SN850X | 4TB | NVMe | PCIe 4.0 | 7,300MB/s read | 6,600MB/s write | $340 (save $39)
(Western Digital)
This is the highest-capacity version of our most beloved SSD for gaming right now. Sadly it doesn't come with a heatsink for the price, but it's not required for use in a PC and this SSD runs pretty cool. It's still a great deal for zippy read/writes and uber-high-capacity storage.
Samsung Odyssey G5 | 34-inch VA | 3440 x 1440 | 250 nits | 1ms MPRT | $399.99 (save $150)
(Samsung)
34-inch ultrawide 1440p gaming remains one of our firm favourites. It's a great compromise between lots of detail and decent frame rates. This Samsung panel gives you all that with 3,440 by 1,440 pixels, 165Hz refresh and 1ms response. It's not the brightest at 250 nits. But if you can live with that, it's an awful lot of monitor for the money.
Hot in Hardware
Yippee, a motherboard that'll fit Corsair's ridiculous 192GB DDR5 RAM kit
(Asus)
Asus recently hit us with its newest high-end motherboard offering, and it's a doozy. The ROG Strix X670-E is an enthusiast-grade AM5 mobo that'll not only let you overclock your Ryzen 7000 series CPU, but also comes with support for a frankly obnoxious 192GB DDR5 RAM capacity.
DRAMmed if you don't
Razer would very much like you to not set fires or bash anyone over the head with its 'first-ever glass gaming mouse mat'
(Razer)
It's not every day a PC gaming hardware company has to tell us not to use its products for hurting people or committing arson. Still, here we are today: Razer just announced its first-ever glass gaming mouse pad designed to give the smoothest mouse glides with zero resistance, and it comes with just that kind of warning.

Have you ever seen something that makes it clear anyone who buys it has too much money? The kind of purchase that makes no sense, and seems to come with a plethora of problems only the super rich could absolve. Something like purchasing a social media platform because not enough people like you, or buying one of these £99,999 F1 Red Bull RB18 show car simulators for no fathomable reason at all.
