Letter from the Team: Growing up, I was a die-hard musical theater kid, living for the next original cast recording I could download or the next playbill I could acquire. I forced my father to listen to hours of Sondheim on car rides and began quoting risqué lines from Chicago (paired with Fosse-inspired choreography) before I really understood the show’s plot. I belted my way through each shower—I was Elphaba from Wicked one evening and Rose from Gypsy the next. I had a definitive answer for what I wanted to be when I grew up: a Broadway star. One of my prized possessions was a VHS with 90 minutes’ worth of musical theater clips I had recorded during a PBS pledge drive. The clips captured each show’s star-making number, the soloist’s voice building until it soared to the rafters. As each song ended and the audience went wild, it was clear that the actress had arrived at stardom. I practiced alongside them in front of the TV, feeling the same electricity and power. Even at the age of 12, I was ready to step into the spotlight and announce to the world that I had arrived—this was my time.

Though my performing days are long over, I’ve channeled this energy throughout the last six months as I worked on the events and activities for M.M.’s fall collection—my favorite campaign to date. This fall, we’re celebrating the joy of feeling like you’ve finally arrived. Though we may not all

aspire to center stage, I can say with confidence that after the last few years, we all deserve to adopt a little main-character energy to buoy us through the toughest days (and when you’re craving more

self-care than spotlight, we have styles that will help you get comfortable and find your confidence).

If you’re in New York City, I invite you to join us in person this week as we take a custom-designed bus full of free activities, goodies, and giveaways around Manhattan. Visitors will have the opportunity to browse our Power Casual styles for fall, and we’ve even partnered with New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Tiler Peck for a one-night-only performance and dance-along event (no theater-kid DNA required for participation!).
