Letter from the Team: The shifting of the seasons has me thinking about change—specifically, a major change that every woman experiences at some point in her life. No, I’m not talking about menopause; I’m talking about going gray. I’ve loved the look of gray hair for as long as I can remember (as a teenager, I’d even encourage my mom to give up the dye and grow hers out), but when I started sprouting a few grays of my own earlier this year, my first instinct was to yank them out. It turns out I bought into the stigma against going gray more than I realized. That’s why I’m so excited about this new story from Deanna Pai. She asked five women who have embraced their gray hair about how the decision has impacted their career and their sense of self. The consensus? “Not doing it sooner” is their only regret.

This week, I also had the chance to ruminate on another type of change: the transition into motherhood. For style blogger Sai De Silva—who curated our latest capsule—becoming a mom prompted a style evolution. But that doesn’t mean she traded all her slacks for sweatpants.

“I'm very much a parent who wants to stay true to myself and not lose my identity,” she says. In our interview, Sai shares how she balances her need for comfort with her desire to express herself through style.
