Hi 🙂 When you saw that emoji just now, what was your first reaction? Did it seem friendly? Did it make you feel uneasy? Attacked, even? It turns out, your answer will most likely depend on your age. This week, Emma did a deep dive into emoji use in the workplace and found that a simple smiley face can mean very different things to different people. Her story is a must-read for anyone who uses messaging apps at work, especially if you have coworkers who come from different generations. (Also, I laughed out loud when I read what “👑” means to Gen Z.)

Speaking of smiley faces, it made me so happy to see how M.M.’s resident style experts, Kate and Latasha, answered customers’ fashion questions at our recent virtual event. You can tell from their thoughtful answers and inventive styling suggestions that they just get it. In fact, I found their advice so useful, I decided to publish the full Q&A.
