Letter from the Team: It’s been a couple of weeks since I wrote the letter for this email, because I’ve been out of office for (drumroll, please) my wedding! We had the wedding in Brooklyn, where we lived up until a year ago, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but all the stress of planning a hundred-person event was actually…worth it. I realize that hearing about someone else’s wedding is kind of like hearing about someone else’s dream (it’s boring), so I’ll sum it up for you in two words: happy cry.

After we’d said goodbye to our family and friends, my husband (!) and I had our hotel room for one extra night, so we spent the day playing tourists all around NYC. And I have to say, we did it right. We went to our favorite pizza place for brunch, where we each downed an entire pie and the best cacio e pepe I’ve had outside of Rome. We had cocktails at 3pm. We walked 30,000 steps. We forgot how much we used to hate the subway. Simultaneously being insiders and outsiders in the city allowed us to enjoy it in a way we hadn’t before. We had the giddy, rose-colored vision of tourists, but the practical knowledge of locals.

I think everyone should have the chance to experience New York this way, so I’m really excited about this new guide that Emma put together on what to eat, drink, see, and wear when you visit NYC. Even if you’re a local, you should check it out, because it includes some great recommendations you may not have tried yet. (P.S. We’re thinking of making this type of travel guide into a series.
