Positive Growth for MotoAmerica
Cycle World

8/6/23

There’s no denying the effect the Mission King of the Baggers racing class has had on the attendance and interest of MotoAmerica’s racing weekends. Even before the KOTB class was added MotoAmerica had turned around the dismal state of American roadracing that the Daytona Group had left it in. MotoAmerica principals Richard Varner and Terry Karges along with Chuck Asland and three-time 500cc Grand Prix world champion Wayne Rainey have steadily grown the attendance and viewership of every race weekend on the calendar over the last nine years of their stewardship.

But classes like the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship, Rev’it! Twins Cup, Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race., and Mission King of the Baggers have captured the attention of those previously not interested in roadracing. They complement the competition and speed provided by the Medallia Superbike, Steel Commander Stock 1000, and Supersport classes. Each weekend is now a racing festival.

Cycle World’s Technical Editor Kevin Cameron spent time with Harley-Davidson’s and Indian’s King of the Baggers teams to find out why they are capturing the attention of so many fans. And he found a world of development and ingenuity that reminded him of Superbike racing in the 1980s.

This week we are bringing you a compilation of Kevin’s bagger articles so you can really get to know what King of the Baggers is all about. Think it’s a sideshow or novelty? Think again.

As always, there’s more than we can fit into this email. Check out cycleworld.com for additional tests, reviews, and news.
