Open-Class Adventure Comparison Test

Last year we pitted Harley-Davidson’s Pan America 1250 Special against the very spicy and very fast Ducati Multistrada V4 S and ADV’s gold standard, the BMW R 1250 GS. In that contest, Harley came out on top. But there are more open-class adventure bikes on the market, although they were not available in the US for that past comparison. Now, we are able to put the winner of last year’s shootout up against the updated KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and Triumph’s new Tiger 1200 GT Pro.

Cycle World’s Editor-at-large Blake Conner headed to Southern Utah with the three adventure models and two CW test riders for a head-to-head-to-head ride on the street and dirt. A thousand miles later, could the H-D hold onto the crown or would the trophy move to Austria or England? Read our 2022 Open-Class Adventure Comparison test with full performance numbers and in-house Dynojet 250i dyno runs to find out.
