Ducati’s Diavel power cruiser has always tested the definition of what a cruiser motorcycle is. Since its launch in 2011, it walked a fine line between what would be considered a cruiser and something more sporting with long and low lines and relaxed seating position combined with near superbike power and quick handling. Now, after attending the 2023 Diavel V4 press launch, the question of whether or not it really is a cruiser is even harder to answer.

Powered by the latest version of Ducati’s Granturismo V4, The Diavel V4 is more compact with sharper styling. At first glance you may think it is a new, larger Monster naked bike–and you couldn’t be faulted for that. Even behind closed doors, Ducati staff have dubbed the Diavel “Mega Monster.”

After an evening and morning of strafing Adu Dhabi’s most famous motoring road to and from Jebel Hafeet, I say the Diavel V4 is mega. Mega-fast, mega-quick, mega-fun, and even mega-confusing. So is it a cruiser or something else? Read my first ride to find out.
