I’m traveling back to the United States after a first ride on Suzuki’s newest and much anticipated adventure motorcycle: the 2023 V-Strom 800DE. This all-new parallel-twin-powered ADV is a very important model for Suzuki—it’s the first to utilize this new dual-counterbalanced twin. I’m working up the review now and you can read all about it next week. But know this: It is a worthy competitor for machines like Yamaha’s Ténéré 700, BMW’s F 850 GS, and Aprilia’s Tuareg 660.

So before my review hits the landing page of Cycle World, check out some of the V-Strom’s competition so you can be fully versed on all things middleweight adventure. It’s a hot category right now, blending multicylinder horsepower and torque, long-travel suspension, and reduced size and weight versus the large-displacement models. They really are the most capable all-rounders in the segment.

Let’s just say Cycle World’s 2023 Middleweight Adventure Shootout is gonna be a great one. Who will win? Too close to call without spending multiple days and many miles on all of them. Tough work, but I’ll suffer (wink) for our readers.

As always, there’s more than we can fit into this email. Check out cycleworld.com for additional tests, reviews, and news.

Ride on,
