Are These Two Triumphs the Best Values in Motorcycling?

2024 Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X Review

2/25/23

Value is a subjective thing, yet there are times when everyone agrees a product is a value and they scoop it up. Well, I just recently went to Valencia, Spain, to ride the 2024 Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X and I expect that these two new singles could be one of the hottest sellers in the first part of the year. The $4,995 Speed 400 and $5,595 Scrambler 400 X represent tremendous value.

Triumph has somehow been able to build two motorcycles in the $5,000 range that feature a new engine and chassis with excellent fit and finish. Park them next to their big-bore twin stablemates and you’d be hard-pressed to find a flaw in the smaller machines’ game. Paint is glossy, the hardware is high quality, and the build is solid. Once on the road, it gets even better. There are a few small issues that we found, but overall, Triumph has built some of the best entry-level motorcycles ever with a sweet 398cc DOHC liquid-cooled single that has plenty of character.

While both are good, one of them is excellent, but I’m not going to tell you here. You’re going to have read the article to find out.
