Yet another Royal Enfield has hit the North American showroom floors, and we’re beginning to sound a bit like a broken record where the Indian bikemaker is concerned. Simple. Fun. Honest. Fun. Not exactly fast. Fun. The Indian manufacturer has a recipe for motorcycles that are beginner-friendly but tug at the heartstrings of even the most jaded expert. And RE’s newest, the 2023 Scram 411, has done it again. Based on the soon-to-be cult classic Himalayan, the Scram is a stripped-down scrambler with an amiable personality that befriends all comers. Sure, there are some hiccups; wooden brakes are at the top of the list. Even so, contributing editor Andrew Cherney couldn’t help but enjoy his time on the Scram 411. Read his full report here.
From a low-tech Scrambler we shift our attention to a high-tech eclectic adventure bike. Zero’s 2023 DSR/X broke cover this week, and we sent our electric mobility expert and contributing editor Steve Anderson to Park City, Utah, for a first ride. Anderson was impressed by the handling and smoothness of the Zero, but he still questions the “adventure-ness” of the DSR/X, mainly due to a 75-mile range. He does say in his first ride report that it is an excellent commuter platform that can break loose into the hills now and then.
As always, there’s more than we can fit into this email. Check out cycleworld.com for additional tests, reviews, and news.
